After providing a survey report prior to purchase Compass Chartered Surveyors worked closely with the client to tastefully adapt and extend the property to the client’s requirements, providing an additional master bedroom with ensuite shower room and dressing room facilities.

R.T. Çatalkoy writes:It has made a huge difference to us to have someone who we can trust and who we can delegate the supervision and checking of all the work we have done while we are not in country. Your recommendation for a builder and architect has worked extremely well and we are very pleased with the quality of the finished extension which can be quite tricky on an old house. Having someone knowledgeable "on the ground" who can call round and check on things for us has been vital to getting a good job done and we appreciate your responsiveness to our various requests. Many thanks for all your support

P.B. Çatalkoy writes: “It was essential for a survey of the bungalow to be undertaken by a qualified local surveyor prior to our purchase. The report provided by Compass was professional, accurate and provided a slight negotiated reduction in the price to account for the defects found. Our interest was also protected with Compass advising and supervising the fairly substantial works which were carried out. They recommended a trusted local builder and specialist subcontractors, advised on materials, produced the contract and regularly visited the property during the construction period checking on programme and workmanship and providing regular progress photographs. Their outstanding service saved money and removed the stress out of the construction process.”

After providing a survey report prior to purchase Compass Chartered Surveyors worked closely with the client to undertake adaptions to this property in Çatalkoy, including an extension to house a new ensuite shower room, the upgrading of the existing bathroom, updating of the kitchen and other improvements to the property including the construction of an arched undercover terrace.

The client had a major problem with water penetration into the house structure and despite previous works being undertaken by other builders the problem was not resolved. The root cause of the problem had not been recognised during previous works. The problem was identified and proper remedial works were undertaken to stop further water penetration into the structure.

T.W. Çatalkoy writes: Stuart has provided me with an invaluable service of overseeing a number of different building repair works both small and large at my property. Not being a permanent resident in Cyprus, it has been a great comfort to me to have been able to rely on Stuart's independent and professionally competent judgement and oversight of these works on my behalf. This has enabled me to have the confidence from afar that the works competed will be to the very high standard I need them to be, which in each case they have indeed been.

After providing a survey report prior to purchase remedial works were supervised, these included the overhaul of terraces to make watertight, the re-tiling of the pool to similarly make watertight as well as other more minor works undertaken to bring the property up to standard.
A.S. Çatalkoy writes: Compass Cyprus removed the stress from organising renovation, and ongoing repairs and maintenance. As well as organisation of such activity, the supervision element, (with photographs as necessary), was excellent. The communication, both by email and phone, has been timely, professional, and comforting. We will continue using Compass Cyprus for all our ongoing repairs and maintenance.

The client’s property whilst constructed had not been completed due to inertia by the builder. After undertaking a detailed snagging report Compass Chartered Surveyors helped the client to enlist the original builder to get some of the works finished to make the property habitable and organised other works including the installation of central heating, air conditioning and completion of shower rooms.
G.S. Arapkoy writes: We, like so many others purchasing property in Northern Cyprus found ourselves extremely frustrated when our developer could not fulfill our contract, leaving us with a building only 70% complete and with no chance of recovering advanced funds. In desperation we approached our solicitor to see if they could recommend a surveyor who we could trust to guide us through the final stages and who in turn could recommend local trades people to finish the project. Stuart Hillard FRICS was recommended to us and through Stuart we were able to source the Air Conditioning and Heating contractors as well as a general builder, plumber and decorator to finish off snagging items. Stuart oversaw the project from there on in making weekly site visits and overseeing the contractors to ensure that what was promised was finally delivered. With hind sight we should have enlisted the services of Stuart Hilliard from the start and would have no hesitation in recommending him to new clients. We would however add that anyone contemplating this type of development should enlist the services of Stuart from the beginning.

I.C. Alsancak writes: Our house in Alsancak suffered quite a battering from the heavy rains in the winter of 2009/10. That combined with the back of the house being built, as it turned out, on some unstable land on the edge of a ravine, resulted in some pretty significant damage to the garden and patio area. I contacted Stuart and he visited site and prepared his report within a few days. Having ascertained the best way to repair the damage Stuart arranged for a builder to undertake the work and he then managed the project right through to a satisfactory completion. In some ways we are happier with the garden and patio areas now than we were before the storm damage.. I would have no hesitation in recommending Stuart for advice and project management of any type of structural work, be it repairs or renovations.

After providing a survey report prior to purchase Compass Chartered Surveyors worked closely with the client to improve the property and gardens, including the construction of retaining walls and the provision of a 40 tonne underground water storage tank

I.B. Çatalkoy writes: I am reluctant to say anything as you know how some people take it as gospel and when it goes wrong find someone to blame, but I was happy with the survey you provided me with, very thorough, followed by your recommendation for the local builder to complete the works, who has since completed further work for me.

The clients own a property that had been continually spoiled since construction by water penetration as a result of poor design detail. The root causes of the problems were identified and remedial works undertaken.

D&PB. Alsancak writes:Previously appointed contractors had failed to resolve the severe damp problem, despite considerable outlay. The problem was reviewed with Compass Cyprus who correctly diagnosed the problem and provided a first class solution. The works were undertaken efficiently and cleanly.

The owners of this villa had spent considerable monies over the years in trying to overcome the damp problems, without a satisfactory solution. The cause of the problem was properly identified and remedial works carried out and having stood the test of one winter there has been no recurrence of the problems.

J&RR. Ozankoy writes:Because of family commitments we have not yet seen the work done last October. Our property manager has assured us that it all went well and there does not seem to have been any problems over winter so what you recommended seems to have worked and solved our problems so thank you
